Ever wanted to design your own ring from scratch? This Wax Carve a Silver Ring class at Vanilla Ink CIC in Glasgow is your chance to do just that. You’ll learn how jewellers use wax to shape, sculpt, and perfect their ideas before they’re cast into silver, the same process used by professionals around the world.

Guided by our expert tutors, you’ll experiment with wax carving tools, explore texture and form, and create a bold, personal design that’s completely your own. When you’re happy with it, we’ll take care of the casting so your ring can be transformed into silver magic.

Can I do this class?

Definitely. This class is great for beginners who want to dip into jewellery design or makers looking to explore a new technique. It’s creative, expressive, and a little addictive - you’ll get lost in the process of carving something that exists only in your imagination. We’ll be there to guide, encourage, and offer plenty of “eureka!” moments along the way.

What happens?

You’ll learn how to:

• Design and carve a ring from wax

• Use traditional wax-carving tools

• Experiment with texture, symmetry, and balance

• Prepare your wax for casting in silver

By the end, you’ll have a fully carved wax model ready for casting, and once it’s been transformed into silver, it’s yours to wear forever.

Note - if your wax weighs above the limit but you want to stick with it, your tutor will be able to weigh it and give you an estimate of cost before you leave.

What do I need to bring?

You don’t need to bring anything with you as we will provide all the equipment and materials needed. Everyone will have their own space with access to all the tools required to carve a ring.

If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!
