Hey, do you like pendants? Do you also like sea glass? Well, lucky you - this one’s for you!

Join us at Vanilla Ink CIC in Glasgow for our Silver Sea Glass Pendant Class, a hands-on jewellery-making experience inspired by Scotland’s beautiful coastline. You’ll learn how to select, design, and set your own piece of sea glass into silver, creating a pendant that’s completely unique to you.

Your tutor will show you how to choose the right shape of sea glass, make a custom bezel setting, and finish the piece with a fixing so a chain can be threaded through. You’ll leave with a finished pendant that captures a little piece of the Scottish coast, and a big sense of achievement.

Bring your own sea glass or choose from our collection found along the West Coast of Scotland and Banff Beach, home to our sister site The Smiddy. We’ve got plenty of gorgeous pieces to choose from!

Can I do this class?

You bet! This class suits both beginners and those who’ve done one of our Taster Experiences before. Setting sea glass can be a bit fiddly, but our tutors are patient pros who’ll guide you through it with ease. You’ll get loads of support, plenty of encouragement, and maybe even a few “woo hoo!” moments along the way.

What happens?

You’ll learn how to:

• Saw, anneal, and shape silver

• Create and solder your own bezel setting

• Securely set your piece of sea glass

• Add a fixing so your pendant is ready to wear

By the end, you’ll have a handmade silver sea glass pendant to take home - your own wearable treasure from the shore.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a sketchbook or something for taking notes etc. Everyone will have their own bench with access to all the tools and materials required to make the pendant. You won’t need anything else as we provide the equipment needed for this session.

Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.

If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!
