GIVE ME THE INFO…

Having great photos of your work is incredibly important! Think about it, what’s the first impression people have when accessing your website, applications and social media? You are being judged by the quality of your pics! However, we know that taking product shots of jewellery is not the easiest task, so we’ve only went and found a solution for you! Jeweller and product photographer Stacey Bentley is on hand to give you a one day masterclass workshop on photographing your jewellery! You’re saved!

CAN I DO THIS CLASS?

Of course you can… you can make jewellery, can’t you? Let Stacey take your hand and lead you down the path where she’ll show you a magical world of lighting, shadows and DLSR cameras.

WHAT HAPPENS?

In this one day workshop, you will learn the basics of product photography and editing. You’ll be shown how to get to grips with a basic set up that you can replicate in your home. Stacey will teach you how to use your digital camera and show the best way for you to set up lighting. Then you’ll learn some tricks of the trade to take a beautiful product shot! In the afternoon Stacey will then take you through some editing techniques to get the perfect photo.

“Stacey was an excellent tutor, her experience and enthusiasm for photography shone throughout the whole course. She explained all aspects simply in a way that was easy for everyone to understand and everyone left the course with great results.“

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

For this session, the answer is quite a lot! Here’s the list:

A piece/pieces of jewellery for photographing
Laptop with photoshop [or equivalent] for editing
Laptop charger [don’t forget!]
Mouse
DSLR camera

Bring a sketchbook or similar for taking notes.

WHO IS TEACHING ME?

Stacey Bentley has worked as a jewellery designer and maker for the past decade and regularly photographs jewellery, ceramics and silverware at The Scottish Gallery for their exhibition programme.

Having had this experience, she has an excellent understanding of how jewellery should be photographed for potential clients, trade and retail show applications and for web and social media content.
