GIVE ME THE INFO…

Okay, you can create jewellery, you make design jewellery… but can you draw jewellery? Na, me neither. That’s why we put this class on! Now you’ll be able to really show your clients exactly what their finished piece will look like after attending tour Design, Draw & Render weekend.

CAN I DO THIS CLASS?

This class is most definitely for you. It’s for everyone, anyone of whatever skill level you have. No matter if you can barely draw a straight line, we will make sure you leave here with a far better understanding of how to create a competent design and enhance your drawing skills.

WHAT HAPPENS?

• Learn to draw various cuts of faceted stones

• Accurately map out and draw up a scaled ring from three views using pair of compasses, ruler and templates

• Create your own design in preparation for rendering

• Rendering various stones - cabochons (translucent and opaque), faceted, a pretty nice diamond, small melee stones, channel set square cuts, pearls etc

• Brush care, amounts of paint needed on a palette, brush control techniques, mixing, making protective paper jackets and how to quickly clear up any small paint blotches or accidental smudges

• Introductory metal rendering in gouache, covering various shapes and surfaces that might come up, i.e. grain set claws, wires, curved surfaces & plain bands

• Render and finish your own design

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

Nope, we’ve got you covered here. We will provide all the equipment needed for this weekend, but if you already have some kit that you’re familiar with, then please bring it with you.

WHO IS TEACHING ME?

Eleanor Clifford joins the roster of Vanilla Ink guest tutors, and we couldn’t be any more excited about having someone as skilled as her teach this fantastic weekend for us!

Having always had a fascination for art and creating, Nor started in the industry at just sixteen years old. She graduated from Birmingham School of Jewellery in 2017 and now works for a lovely family jewellers in Hampshire as a Goldsmith/Designer.

During this journey, Nor discovered her love of traditional rendering techniques, developing her style over the years using a combination of Gouache and watercolour- both of which she collects avidly.
