In this full-day class, you will learn the joys of sand casting and how it can be used by both amateur and professional jewellers to create simple but fantastic pieces of jewellery. Learn how to use Delft Clay with confidence to make all sorts of units that you can cast over and over again. Attention to detail will be given to both the setup and execution of the technique, making sure you comprehend the process and make the most of your flame-filled fun! Full demonstrations will be given so you completely understand the tasks in hand. The technique can often be unpredictable but create beautiful, unique results.

CAN I DO THIS CLASS?

Some jewellery experience is required, basic skills like soldering and sawing would be good.

WHAT HAPPENS?

The day is packed with all sorts of different techniques and tricks of the trade to learn. Begin by building a mould and casting for yourself. Choose from one of our mould templates to create a pendant, which you can either drill through or solder on a jump ring for a chain.

Then move onto making a ring by using a similar technique. For this, you will again choose from our selection of blank templates and still cast them yourself.

Finally, have some fun by trying to cast with stones in place. For this, you will be asked to carve your own piece of jewellery [either a ring or pendant] out of wax before hopefully casting a unique piece of rustic jewellery sprinkled with sparkly stones! There will be plenty of time to finish all pieces of jewellery, with demonstrations of different options given. You will leave here with a lot of jewellery at the end of this session!
