Welcome to Summer School Three. This is the third and final instalment of Vanilla Ink’s Summer School trilogy, aimed at makers who are familiar with basic techniques but are looking to push through to the next level. The course will be a week-long intensive look at processes, techniques and skills designed to increase your ability and confidence before heading back to college, uni or your own bench.

This is for those with a bit of experience under their belts. The week is devoted to the furthering of skills, learning of advanced techniques and adding to each individual’s skillset. The school will aim to hone already learned methods, as well as introducing brand new and tricky techniques! This is the chance to connect with a highly experienced jeweller and benefit from their vast knowledge.

The week is split into two, with the first few days spent learning introductory jewellery techniques, then for the rest of the session, you will be supported in making your own collections. Sounds fancy! From here you can then go on to our entry-level Professional Classes, like Basic Stone Setting, Finishing School and Wax Carving, etc. Get you! Can’t make the Summer School? We have options! You can try our Level Three Block Class or Weekend Session. There’s nothing wrong with mixing and matching these sessions to fit your busy schedule.

CAN I DO THIS CLASS?

This week is for those with experience in jewellery making who have attended both our Level One and Level Two courses or have learned to the same level elsewhere. If you are unsure just get in touch!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

We will email you our Summer School Manual ahead of the class, please bring this digitally or printed out. Also a sketchbook or something for taking notes etc.

You don’t need to bring anything with you as we will provide all equipment needed plus the materials for the first few days. Everyone will have their own bench with access to all the tools required to make jewellery. For your own projects, we always discuss your plans thoroughly and where to find everything you will need to complete them. Your tutor will sit with you to talk through your projects before we order everything for the whole class. We’re good to you.

Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.

If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!
