Summer School 3
Summer School 3
This is the third and final instalment of Vanilla Ink’s Summer School trilogy, aimed at makers who are familiar with basic techniques, but are looking to push through to the next level.
The course will be a week-long intensive look at processes, techniques and skills designed to increase your ability and confidence before heading back to college, uni or your own bench.
This is for those with a bit of experience under their belts. If you have attended our Summer School 1, our Beginners or attended a similar course elsewhere, this is for you. With the week being devoted to the furthering of skills, learning advanced techniques, and adding to each individual’s skillset. The school will aim to hone already learned methods, as well as introducing brand new and tricky skills! This is the chance to connect with a Master Goldsmith and benefit from his vast knowledge. Hints, tips and tricks of the trade will all be taught alongside a recap of the previous year’s skills and finely tuning those all important processes.
This class is based on our Intermediate 2 class but condensed in to one week. Throughout the week you will learn creating and bezel setting a square stone, basic Mokume Gane, wax carving techniques, Delft clay and cuttlefish casting, and much more. During the last two days you will be invited to create your own piece(s) based on the week’s content.
This course is for those that have experience in making either at Vanilla Ink or through another learning provider. All tools and base metals are provided within the course. Remember to bring a sketchbook! Feel free to bring your own silver and your own tools if you prefer. You will be guided through ordering your own materials ahead of your own creation days. Lunch is not provided but there are many amenities nearby. The workshop will close between 1pm - 2pm.
