6 months have flown by and the first Glasgow cohort have completed their Vanilla Ink Programme. 7 jewellers and silversmiths have been on an incredible journey of discovery and learning. Workshops from people like SNOOK, Create48, Birdie Marketing and the wonderful Carol Sinclair, the Inkers have soaked up everything that was fed to them.
Now is the time to showcase their work in an exhibition curated to show the past, present and hopefully their bright future.
Join us at Gesso Tea & Coffee Lounge on Friday 16th of September for the official opening of Genesis. From 7-9pm there will be a chance to meet the Inkers and oggle at their beautiful work. Come and raise a glass to the Inkers of 2016 and congratulate them on the extremely hard work they have put in in the last 6 months.
The exhibition will continue until the 25th of September 10-6pm each day where work will be available to purchase.
In the window of MAKLab Charing Cross, we will be inviting each Inker to work from the pop up workshop. Walk past and see how each Inker creates their beautiful pieces. Wave hello and feel free to pop in and have a chat.
The Vanilla Ink Programme will run again early 2017 and will be a 9 month programme. If you are interested in applying please sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know. We welcome any jeweller who is in the early stages of their career from any background of education (including self taught jewelers).
Here's what this years Inkers have said about the programme.
From the very first day at Vanilla Ink building a cardboard den, I knew I would love it. Vanilla Ink was the exact thing I wanted and needed after leaving Art School, and so much more. We have had an incredibly supportive, informative and diverse experience that I will remember and treasure forever.

The Vanilla Ink Professional Practice course has given me the invaluable opportunity to develop my studio practice as well as teaching me the practical skills needed to establish a successful jewellery brand. The Meet The Maker sessions have introduced me to some of the most exciting Scottish creative businesses, while the workshops have boosted my confidence and helped me stay motivated. I highly recommend the course to anyone who needs a little guidance when making the leap from jeweller to jewellery brand, and wants to make some good friends along the way!
