Katherine Seaman graduated in the summer of 2011 from Middlesex University where she achieved a BA (Hons) in Jewellery Design. Katherine’s starting point for her work is objects. She uses a variety of items from sentimental jewellery to mundane everyday objects to create a range of contemporary jewellery. ‘Objects alone have the potential to expand our understanding of the world and are triggers of chains of ideas and images that go far beyond their starting point. I find objects fascinating and enjoy finding ways of how I can capture certain aspects of them in my work.’ Her most recent work was created for her graduate collection, ‘Foreshore.’ She used her interest in archaeology and gathered artefacts from along the foreshore of the River Thames. Since then, Katherine has developed a more commercial collection continuing on from her graduate work.
